Prairie Wren by Electrofrazzled Prairie Wren by Electrofrazzled
Can't go wrong with pencil art. Anyways I was flipping through a national geographic magazine one day when I stumbled across this really little photograph of a prairie wren. I dunno why but I liked it and decided to draw it. SUPER SIZED! The photo was too small to really make out any detail so I had to improvise..

Maybe this cute bird was a prairie warbler?

(I'm too impressed by your skill to comment on your drawing.)

This is an amazing drawing, the textures are fantastic! As is the shading.
But, the right leg looks slightly too far to the right for the angle of the leg and the rest of the bird.
Also, the bottom edge of the wing is not very defined, though the feathers and the top edge (shoulder area) of the wing are.

But still an amazing drawing! :) I hope to be able to draw this good in a few years. :D

<3 I just love the fact that this is traditional, in a technological world people sometimes leave traditional media behind, but it's just as beautiful.

Anyways, as for the drawing, I must say adding a few more darker shades would make it pop out more. Or maybe it's the scan. You could try making it a bit more darker playing around with the contrast as you scan it. I think you got a lot of detail in it even thought the reference picture was so small. :)

Traditional Media for the win~

You did a good job on this one
I think the same as Ruskyi47 :)
I really don't know anything to criticize on this. Wait; I think the strokes on the legs of the bird are looking a little bit untidy, but that's all I can say :D:D

Can't go wrong with pencil? I beg to differ, I do so all the time.

I love your drawing. It feels very realistic, but the details you put into it give the little bird a very strong personality and presence. I'm really glad you decided to keep the background to a minimum, because it would take away from the power of the wren. Truly, an awesome piece! Great job! :D

Thank you very much for the reply!

I'll admit that if I was any good at backgrounds, I probably would have given it one. I like to overdo things, but I am happy with my little stick. I greatly appreciate the critique, I've been in an art slump and haven't had any inspiration, but being told that I'm not a complete failure in that department helps a lot. :)
